However, current times and their increasingly intense global flows put the discipline in innovative and challenging scenarios. This is why in the path of an “occupational R-Evolution” it is important to make these processes and their sociocultural dynamics visible. Objectives: To understand and include sociocultural factors in health care, in the practice of occupational therapy, and the management and design of health public policies. To that end, the present work reflects and draws upon two ethnographic cases in different sociocultural contexts. Method / Approach: Both authors have carried out ethnographic fieldwork with people from different cultural contexts in order to understand their representations and health practices related to their occupation. Results and or Practice Implications: The cases of cultural diversity in the practice of occupational therapy surveyed here show the tensions and obstacles that may arise in these encounters. Thus, as a result of this dialogue, it becomes clear that the sociocultural configurations of the people involved are not sufficiently considered when carrying out clinical or community interventions. Conclusion: On the whole, the ethnographic data and reflections presented here show a strong need to enhance an occupational therapy from an intercultural perspective that is sensitive to the needs and occupational characteristics of the diverse populations involved.
